First time visiting us?

If this is your first-time visiting Durham County Department of Public Health (DCoDPH), we are here to help. Please bring proof of household income (pay stub, copy of check, bank statements) and proof of identification. You can call to make an appointment, but we also accept walk-ins. Interpretation services are available at NO cost, including American Sign Language.

How do I make an appointment?

Scheduling an Appointment

An appointment with most of our clinics can be made over the phone by calling 919-560-7601. We also have limited walk-in appointments in some clinics. It is strongly recommended to arrive early for same day walk-in appointments as they fill quickly. The registration office opens at 8:00 a.m.

What happens during registration?

Please arrive at least 15 minutes prior to your scheduled appointment to ensure you are registered on time

For the determination of fees for health services, proof of income is requested annually.  Accepted proof of income are: pay stub, copy of check, bank statements.  

Interpretation services for guests who do not speak English and people who require interpretation of the sign language, are available at no cost. All services are confidential.

How much will it cost?

Guests requesting clinical services offered at DCoDPH will have their financial eligibility determined (depending on the services provided), at each visit. For the determination of fees for health services, proof of income is requested annually. Rates are assessed according to the rules and regulations of each program and the recommended Program Poverty Level Scale (Sliding Rate Scale) will be used to determine fees for all programs. The guest will bring proof of income to participate in the sliding fee scale, otherwise they will be charged 100% on the sliding fee scale. All accepted  third-party insurances are billed where applicable.
